Anna Kendrick grew up in Maine and caught the acting bug early. After appearing in local productions of stage musicals, including playing the role of Tessie in Annie at age six, by the time she was 10 she convinced her parents to drive her to New York for auditions. At 12, Anna won the plum role of Dinah Lord in the Broadway musical High Society. She received a Tony Award Nomination as Best.
